Kitchen Party Ceilidh fifth anniversary! - July 11, 2018

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Kitchen Party Ceilidh, Indy's only homegrown Celtic music radio program, will air its fifth anniversary show on Sunday, July 15! Like all KPC shows, you can hear it on Sunday at 10:00 PM EST on WICR 88.7 FM in Indianapolis,, with repeats on Monday on WXTF 97.9 FM in Harrisville, Michigan, and Friday and Saturday at 7:30 AM and 4:30 AM respectively, on

Rockin' Dave's Roots Roundup goes live! - July 1, 2018

I'm pleased to announce that my second radio show, Rockin' Dave's Roots Roundup, will now air every Sunday at midnight! This hour-long show focuses on rockabilly, jump blues and western swing, and it's been in the works for quite a while. Tonic Ball details - October 17, 2016

Dave and the New Trad Ramblers will appear at the Tonic Ball playing Grateful Dead music as part of the annual celebration. The NTRs will be playing at Pioneer, and their slot begins at 7:40. See you there!

New Irish session in town! - October 9, 2016

The Bent Rail Brewery, 5301 N. Winthrop in Indianapolis, has begun a weekly Irish session to take place every Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. There is no charge, and all are welcome to attend. The session will feature some of the finest Irish musicians in Indy, as well as visiting players from other regions. Dave will host the second Sunday of the month. Come on out!

Dave to appear at Tonic Ball! - September 26, 2016

Dave will be making his first Tonic Ball appearance since 2009, playing Grateful Dead music as part of the New Trad Ramblers. The Ramblers also feature Bobby Jenkins on guitar and vocals, Bruce Anderson on banjo and vocals and Chip Jackson on bass and vocals. Stay tuned for details!

Dave competed at the Midwest Fleadh in Cincinnati and came away with gold medals in the Mandolin Over 18 and Newly-Composed Song categories!

Sunday Kitchen Party starting up! - February 13, 2015

I'm pleased to announce that we're starting a Sunday Kitchen Party open session at Nine Irish Brothers in Indianapolis. The session will start this Sunday, February 15, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The session will continue on the first and third Sundays of every month thereafter. I will host the session, and we'll have lots of guest players, but all who play traditional Celtic instruments are welcome to join in. See you there!

New radio show! - July 10, 2013

I'm pleased to announce that I will be producing and hosting a new Celtic music radio program, "The Kitchen Party Ceilidh." The hour-long show will air on WITT 91.9 FM every Friday night at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, starting on Friday, July 19, 2013. The Ceilidh will feature Celtic music from all over the world. Dave wins at the Midwest Fleadh! - May 20, 2013

I am very pleased to report that I won the Over-18 mandolin competition at the 2013 Midwest Fleadh! The Fleadh, which took place in St. Louis this year, determines who will qualify for the All-Ireland competition, which happens in August at Derry/Londonderry - sort of the Olympics of Irish music. With my win in St. Louis, I am now qualified to compete at the All-Irelands!

It's finally almost time..."Katy Bar the Door," the brand-new all-original CD from Diamond Hill Station, will be here soon! It's off at the duplicator right now and should be here the first week of April. We're excited to share with you the results of our work, more than a year in the making. Every song on "Katy" was written by someone in the band, and everyone contributed. Dave has three songs on this CD: "Somebody Else's Problem," "We Can Just Pretend" and the title track. Look for details soon on the CD release party.

DHS Fan Appreciation Day! - March 1, 2013

We're pleased to announce that our annual Fan Appreciation Day has been scheduled, this time at a new location. We will hold this great event at Legends Bar & Grill in Farmersburg on Saturday, April 6. The show will get underway with our friends The Deaton Family, and then we will play. We will feature songs from our upcoming album, Katy Bar the Door, copies of which will be available for purchase at the show. There will be food available, along with Mike's annual tradition of door prizes. Best of all, there is NO admission charge. Legends is located on Highway 41 South, a few miles south of Terre Haute on the east side of the road. See you there!

I've just been informed that I will be speaking at the New York Mets 50th Anniversary Conference at Hofstra University on April 26-28, 2012. I'm extremely honored to be a part of this historic conference. I'll be speaking on Marv Throneberry, who was for many the symbol of the Mets' lovable incompetence.
